Nevada already operates with some of the lowest levels of services and taxes of any state in the nation. Many of the agencies of our state and cities are extremely efficient, operating better than most reasonable persons could expect, considering their funding levels.
Our state and the needs of a modern economy cannot persist on such
minimal revenue, and further cuts to services would be irresponsible
and counter productive. Nevadans will support fair tax increases if
they are done so in a transparent and reasonable manner, explaining
precisely why the money is needed and where it will go. We need the
courage to stand up to anti-tax hysteria to demand modest, basic
services from our government. Future Nevadans will judge us at this
critical time. Legislators, I implore you to protect all Nevadans and
our children by finding the political courage to enact modest tax
increases to fund our necessary services.
