I would support the increasing of some taxes to help balance the budget. Some taxes that could be increased in my view:
Liquor Taxes - Nevada has the cheapest alcohol prices in the nation.
How about increasing the taxes on liquor by a dollar a 750 milliliter
bottle? Mining tax - with gold at $1,000/ounce and silver at
$14/ounce, it is time that the mining companies start to pay their fair
share of taxes on the ore they are taking out of the state. Let’s
raise the tax rate to the same level as the casinos have to pay—around
6 percent, I believe. Install a state lottery. Do you know how many
people buy lottery tickets from California? A lot! Copy the state
lottery business plan from Washington State and you will see how many
jobs this will create and the volume of additional dollars that the
state will bring into the general fund.
