Welfare Office Cuts PDF Print E-mail
The welfare office is only 50 percent staffed and they have a hiring freeze. The influx of people that have been laid off and are now applying for benefits is astronomical. The case managers are extremely overworked as case loads have doubled and may triple before the end of the year.

The case managers give their heart and soul to their clients to make sure they get all their benefits on time. This is the case of all Welfare case managers in every office. These dedicated workers do not deserve to have their salary or benefits cut. They deserve their step raises and cost of living raises. They should not be the ones to have to pay for the shortsightedness of this government. If anyone pays, it should be all the people that live in this state. This state has been doing extremely well for many years and should have saved money for times like this while the money was pouring in. The DMV was expanded when so many people, as many as 7000 per month, were pouring into this state. Now that the number of people moving in has decreased, those offices could be downsized.
