When signing up my son for high school classes, we were told that the Agriculture classes will probably be cut. These are classes on Animal and Plant sciences, Auto Tech, Welding, and programs such as Future Farmers of America. What is Nevada with students who don’t have access to Agriculture and FFA?
These are exactly the types of hands-on classes that keep high school
kids motivated to attend school and help them with practical job skills
for when they graduate. Nevada is already 48th in the nation for
education. Drop-out rates are so high–do you think cutting the
interesting classes in high school is going to help? I would rather
pay a state tax than watch these struggling kids get a lot less than
they deserve, and nothing to prepare them for the working world. Make
football be a pay-to-play program instead of cutting actual classes and
teachers.
