Education in our State PDF Print E-mail
I am in 8th grade and am very concerned about the budget cuts proposed by Governor Gibbons.  I have not talked to anyone at school, soccer practice, church, or anywhere else that thinks education and teachers should take any more cuts.

I am concerned that my teachers will feel more undervalued and unappreciated than they already feel with larger class sizes, a cut in pay, and health benefits, and changes to their retirement.  Everyone I have talked to has agreed that everyone should pay a little more, not just teachers and state workers.  We also agree that cutting monies from education in K-12 and beyond is not the answer.  Please use our money wisely and invest in the most important things–your children and their education! As a state we need to respond during this time of hardship with taxes to those who can most afford to pay for them–mining and casinos that make more than $1 million a month, for example. There is money in the state to help us balance the budget, but I don’t think our school districts and underpaid teachers should be the ones shouldering the burden.  Please do the right thing and come up with a solution that benefits students, education, and teachers.
