The Governor has provided a basis for meeting the deficit that we are all faced with. Unfortunately, the legislature has not provided any alternatives and we are quickly running out of time. My family is disappointed that there is a lack of vision in the legislature. We agree with the Governor’s view of what is needed.
We need to challenge in detail where our money is going. We cannot
afford to provide every program with the money that they need.
Education consistently states that they need more money yet we see no
results that would indicate we are receiving value for our money. The
legislature needs to provide their proposal now and the answer is not a
tax increase. Too many of your constituents have lost money either in
their 401Ks, investments, or their homes. Let’s begin the challenge of
why we are paying gold plated pensions and benefits to our state
workers while in the private industry we pay far less.
