State Employee Salary Cut |

It is the responsibility of all citizens of the State of Nevada to resolve the budget issues, not just State employees.
The 6% cuts are only the beginning—our medical deductible and out-of-pocket expenses are going up while covered services are going down, household expenses are on the rise, and the cost of food has increased. Many families have more than one person employed by the State, so the impact would be double to them. Raise appropriate taxes (although I do not agree with a State income tax), start a State lottery, implement an occupancy tax on accommodations (like California, New York, and other states have done). It has been said that the State should be run more like a private business regarding health care and retirement; however, most of us made a conscious decision to work for the State specifically for the benefits the job offered.
