I have dedicated 21 years of my life to the State service and in that time I have seen government whittle away at State employee’s benefits.  I do not qualify for Social Security so it does not benefit me to quit and go to work for a private company.  State workers struggle in these times just like everyone else, trying to raise our families pay off some bills and get by.  No better no worse.  Why then do the State employees, teachers, and education have to shoulder this burden?

You talk about how State employees received a total of 6 percent in raises but you neglected to say how long it had been since we had one.  Some State employees were topped out years ago.  The only raises received are what legislators give.  Other State workers have spouses who work in other industry’s and have already had their pay cut, if even working.  If something must be done, close down the State 1 or 2 days a month.  At least that way State employees can makeup some of the loss by not having to pay for child care those two days, save on gas getting to and from work etc., and leave the retirees alone they are barley getting by as it is.
